Heart  Health Tips

Valentine’s Day is all about love. Our purpose in life is ultimately to realize unconditional love for all life, including all life forms and mother earth, which is the ultimate life form with whom we co-exist. May the cupid of love infuse you with some unconditional love!

The heart has always been the representation for love, so I want to offer you some helpful heart health tips.

Our entire body is all about little chemical messengers like hormones and neurotransmitters. The more love we feel, think and send forth, the healthier these messengers function and the more of them we produce. Vibrations produced by thoughts of love are powerful! So for a healthy heart, start with loving thoughts.

Heart and Noise:

A recent Danish study including 51,485 participants confirmed a link between road-traffic noise and the risk of a stroke. It turns out that for every 10 decibels (dB) more traffic noise, the risk of suffering a stroke increased by 14%. Those aged 65 and over the risk jumps to 27% for every 10 dB. The correlation was present even after researchers made allowances for other environmental and lifestyle factors, including air pollution, smoking, and diet. Noise pollution is also related to stress, poor sleep quality, elevated blood pressure, and an increased heart rate.

Heart and Cholesterol:

Cholesterol lowering drugs are the main medical approach to lowering cholesterol levels. Cholesterol lowering drugs are now a market worth $24 billion per year in the US. Most sales come from statin drugs, such as Mevacor and Lipitor. It is cheap to make this stuff –Lipitor has a mark up of more than 4, 000 %. Prices are protected by patents, and society is inundated with propaganda to buy these products .

To sell more drugs standard blood test ranges are often changed. Cholesterol is a prime example of this approach, to the point that what is deemed to be healthy cholesterol levels is a contentious and complex issue. Too low of cholesterol is not healthy, as it interferes with hormonal production and depletes CoQ10, thereby negatively affecting all cardiovascular functions. Statins have reported side effects on the following systems: Skeletal, Neurological, Gastrointestinal, Reproductive, Eye and Liver.

Before jumping on the medication bandwagon, I encourage you to do your own research and try natural aids. We have used combinations such as LoClo and Psyllium Hulls Combo for 30 + years to regulate cholesterol naturally, with NO side effects, but lot of benefits.

Heart and Blood Pressure:

Another example is the change in measurements used to determine High Blood Pressure. In the not too distant past, only diastolic rate was counted; adding systolic meant more people would be found to be too high, thereby needing more drugs.

Natural products lower blood pressure:

We recently had a woman in her mid eighties who had diastolic blood pressure ranging from 149 – 194 for the past year. Within 3 weeks of beginning a natural herbal formula called BloodPressurex, her blood pressure was down to 120-125 and has stayed in this range for over three months. Besides working faster than the drugs, there are no side effects. All the more reason for Canadians to write your letters to let your government know you want access to safer, less expensive natural products!
