We have been asked to share this so many times by friends who rave about it, so here it is! It started as Lorene’s Green Goddess ‘weed’ dressing many years ago, but as Alain is now chief cook, I renamed it in my book, to honour all the support AND good food he provides on a daily basis. Good men have some Goddess in them, too!<\/p>\n

It is\u00a0an excellent dressing which can be used on\u00a0salads, vegetables, grains or meats to add essential fatty acids,\u00a0herbal nutrition and flavour. The apple cider vinegar or lemon juice also help pre-digest\u00a0salads, like ceviche. I often suggest adding dressing 1\/2 hour before – the wilting that occurs is an indicator that the cellulose is being broken down. Chapter 10 offers twenty\u00a0recipes to help people get started on healthy eating, which is a major pillar of both\u00a0healing and maintaining optimum health.<\/p>\n

Alain\u2019s Green Goddess Dressing<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Basic ingredients:<\/strong>
\n\u2022 1 cup (250 ml) cold pressed olive oil
\n\u2022 1 Tbsp. (15 ml) lemon juice and\/or
\n\u2022 1 Tbsp. (15 ml) apple cider vinegar (pure\u00a0unpasteurized)<\/p>\n

This is the basic recipe so play with it<\/strong>!<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

What makes the\u00a0dressing delicious and nutritious is the addition of as\u00a0many herbs, weeds and other ingredients that your\u00a0imagination, your fridge and your taste buds allow. This is what makes\u00a0it your\u00a0Green Goddess Dressing:
\n\u2022 Garlic cloves (1 \u2013 up to your tolerance)
\n\u2022 Onions – 2 Tbsp. to \u00bd cup
\n\u2022 1\/8 tsp. mustard powder
\n\u2022 Chives, oregano, marjoram, parsley, sage,\u00a0rosemary or thyme. (like the song)
\n(Lorene sometimes adds a few fresh leaves or \u00bd tsp.\u00a0dried of any of the following lemon balm, mint,\u00a0spearmint, fennel or catnip for accent flavour.)
\n\u2022 Weeds such as chickweed, nettles, dandelion, sorrel greens all add vitamins, minerals and different\u00a0flavours.
\n\u2022 Fresh greens such as kale, beet tops, spinach<\/p>\n

For extra nutrition add miso, engevita yeast, Bragg\u2019s\u00a0aminos to taste<\/p>\n

Preparation:<\/strong>
\nBlend at high speed until all ingredients are well\u00a0liquefied.
\nOther options, dependent upon your food\u00a0preferences, blood type and condition.<\/p>\n

For creamier\/ranch:<\/em>
\n3 Tbsp. healthy mayonnaise (optional)
\n2 Tbsp. organic sour cream or yogurt (optional)<\/p>\n

For \u201cThousand Island\u201d<\/em>\u00a0: blend in fresh tomatoes<\/p>\n

For Caesar<\/em>: add a raw egg (coddled first in hot water 1\u00a0minute), mustard, lots of garlic, and optional capers,\u00a0anchovies, Worcestershire, Parmesan cheese.<\/p>\n

For additional Essential Fatty Acids, you can add\u00a0coconut oil, hemp oil, omegas \u2013 just check the flavour.
\nUse freely on salad, vegetables, meat, fish, poultry,\u00a0eggs. At least two tablespoons per day will help your\u00a0intake of healthy oils.
